Common challenges in Class 1, and how we handle them
Short attention span
Six-year-olds lose focus quickly. We rotate between speaking, drawing, movement and writing so the class stays lively.
Pencil grip and letter shapes
Poor grip early on becomes poor handwriting later. We correct grip and posture from the first week.
Number confusion
Reversing digits or mixing 12 and 21 is common. Concrete counting with objects and the abacus helps fix this.

- Week 1–2: settle in, assess reading and number level, fix pencil grip.
- Month 1–3: phonics and sight words, number sense to 50, daily writing practice.
